Welcome to the Net Price Calculator

The Rice Net Price Calculator is designed to give you an early indication of how much and what types of financial aid you might qualify for.  These figures are calculated as if you were a full-time college freshman attending Rice University during the upcoming academic year. The calculator allows you to have a better understanding of the financial options and opportunities available to students.  This tool is to assist families in making informed decisions concerning college choices.

  • How does it work? The calculator begins with the total cost of attendance for Rice University. This cost includes billable and non-billable costs such as tuition, housing, books, transportation and other miscellaneous personal expenses. It then measures the financial strength of your family and uses the information you provide to estimate the amount of grants and other financial aid that is likely to be available to you. Your “net price” is the difference between your estimated financial aid and the cost of attendance.

This tool is intended for the use of U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens (as defined by the Department of Education) who are first time college students and will be enrolled full-time. Please note that while the Net Price Calculator tool is limited to U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens, the Rice admission process is need-blind for all U.S. citizens, permanent residents, DACA and undocumented students who have been in the U.S. for an extended period of time, and meets the full demonstrated need of all admitted students.

Completing the calculator should take no more than 20 minutes of your time. You will be asked to answer some basic questions about your parents’ financial situation, so it might be helpful to have recent tax forms or pay stubs on hand before you begin.

As you use the calculator, please remember:

  1. This is not an application for admission or financial aid.
  2. Use both custodial and non-custodial income and assets information.  The results will only be as reliable as the data you provide.
  3. The net price calculator will only give you an estimate of your net price and aid eligibility. The financial aid office will make the final decision on your financial aid awards.
  4. You must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the CSS Profile, and submit all Official IRS Tax Forms by our deadlines.
